So finally watched !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! last night - it was shite. And I love Shailene Woodley. Watch her in The Descendants if you have any questions.

There are three books in the series, so thankfully we won’t see another movie. The first movie was her training - it’s in the middle as far as quality. The second is her escaping, and it’s the least worst in the series. The third one is horrible - continuity errors, the plot is nonsense, and the ending satisfies no one. And it’s 120 minutes long.

Ugh. So that’s my Eberting of that movie.

I felt the same about Suicide Squad. The trailer was for a much better movie. Even the plot twist was “meh.”

Terrible teen YA novel adapted movie, full of shit actors for angsty teens, I wouldn’t even see it. I heard the Red Rising books will be movies. Those could be gritty, cool sci fi if they don’t totally fuck it up.

I promised I would not give BvS my money, but curiosity got me, and I rented it for 4 bucks on Friday. Affleck did the best with what he had, but he didn’t have much. Cavill is miscast. The only good thing was Gal Gadot, but the movie about 100% more Gal. And the trailer for Wonder Woman looks fantastic:

I feel a little robbed on the Suicide Squad tickets. I’d feel a lot worse if my wife hadn’t bought them :) It’s worth renting for 4 bucks, but I’d skip it in the theater if you haven’t seen it yet.

I wonder why they seem to have such a hard time doing good flicks for the DC universe lately?

Agoraphobia keeps me out of the theater. The last movie I saw in a theater was SPECTRE - it was too big a draw. Was going to see Force Awakens in the theater, but some fucking comic on a podcast spoiled it, so I got mad - finally watched on the plane to Tokyo in mid-March.

Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown. Actually some pretty graphic stuff so maybe teens and over if you were to call it YA. I really liked them and done right it could be a very cool film trilogy.

World War Z could’ve been an awesome documentary style mini series but instead Hollywood got to it and it became a bad movie with nothing in common with the book beyond the title.

Long story short: Hollywood will ruin anything if they think they can make a buck

I like her in most things I've seen, but she is a terrible action actress. At least Jennifer Lawrence can pull off pretending to be tough, but Shailene looks terrible. I watched the first one (maybe two) with my wife, and kept getting pulled out of the movie every time I saw her "fight". Well, that and the shit plot, but that's a different matter.
